Why Should I Enroll in Private Music Lessons?

Private music lessons are given by a music teacher to an individual student in a one-on-one setting. Private lessons taken at a dedicated, professional location are the best way for a student to learn an instrument or to sing. Students who take private lessons are more likely to stay with their instruments. Private music lessons cost more than group lessons, but the cost is worth it to many parents who want to give their children a head start in music.

Music lessons are a fun way to learn a new skill and an effective way to develop self-discipline and confidence. Music is an integral part of our culture and is a powerful medium of expression and communication. It has been shown that music lessons can help children develop important cognitive and motor skills, as well as improve their creativity, self-esteem, and self-awareness. While building a strong technical foundation is important, the most important thing we can do for our students is to show them how to love music. This is why we always strive to create a fun and positive learning environment where students can feel comfortable making mistakes and taking risks. We emphasize making music an enjoyable experience, not a competitive one.

What Instruments Do You Teach?

We currently teach piano and voice and will be adding other instruments soon. Our piano and voice lessons are designed to keep you interested, motivated, and challenged. Lessons are available for every level and age group. Whether you want to learn to play piano or sing, we can help.

What Styles of Music Are Taught?

There are many different styles of music, and each one has its own set of rules and techniques. Learning the basics of a style can help you understand the music you hear and make your own music more enjoyable. Our instructors and classically-trained musicians who are active performers in the classical music scene. They are also lifelong learners themselves who cultivate passions and experience from outside of the formal classical training they received. These additional of music include singer-songwriter, improvisation, modern and popular music. "Popular" can be further divided into sub-styles, such as jazz or rock. Each style has its own unique history, theory and set of techniques. Classical music is based on the works of European composers from the Baroque, Classical and Romantic periods. The pieces are usually performed by orchestras, chamber ensembles or soloists. Classical music is known for its beautiful melodies, complex harmonies and intricate rhythms. Singer-songwriter music is based on the personal experiences of the songwriter. The lyrics are usually very personal and intimate, and the melodies are often catchy and easy to remember. This style of music is often performed by solo artists or small groups. Improvisation is a style of music where the performers create the music as they go along. This can be done with or without prior planning. Improvisation is often used in jazz and rock music. Modern is a style of music that includes all other styles that have been created since the early 20th century. This includes everything from atonal to electronic to post-modern composition. Our knowledgeable instructors are delighted to share their experience and insights into all styles of music they are familiar with - just ask!

What Happens in a Lesson?

The lesson is the most important part of your music education. It is where you learn how to sing or play your instrument and where you get the most out of your time spent with your teacher. The lesson is where you will be taught to read music, and it's where you'll develop the skills that will enable you to play or sing by ear. It's also where you'll learn about music theory, which is a very important part of learning to sing or play an instrument. You'll learn about rhythm, about the sound of chords and about the structure of songs. And because you'll be in the lesson for 30 minutes or more, you'll have plenty of time to discuss these things with your teacher. You'll also have time to ask questions about learning to use your voice or play your instrument. You may also have time to do some exercises. These exercises are very important because they're how you develop the skills you need to make music.
